Entrance of the Discovery Centre building with modern metal panels and a green circular logo under a clear evening sky.

Permanent galleries, daily programming, travelling exhibits, and an immersive dome theatre activate the interior. A four-storey atrium preserves the scale of the original hall and draws daylight deep into the building. The project reinforces Halifax’s relationship to its working harbour.

Interior view of a modern Innovation Lab with people working at tables and hexagonal wooden shelves visible through glass walls.

A 40-metre interpretive walkway includes a to-scale tidal chart display referencing Halifax’s fishing and shipping history. Custom perforated aluminum panels abstract lunar cycles, while interactive installations extend both indoors and outdoors. Designed to LEED Platinum standards, the project demonstrates the environmental and civic value of adaptive reuse.
