University of Guelph Honey Bee Research Centre

The new Honey Bee Research Centre at the University of Guelph establishes a state-of-the-art research centre dedicated to education about pollinator health. The building contains a bright, light-filled Discovery Centre with access to outdoor beehives, a research lab, and honey processing facilities. Learning from one of nature’s greatest architects—the honeybees—this project envisions an architecture of collaboration and efficiency. Notably, the project employs regenerative design to leave the site in a better condition than it was found by demonstrating sensitivity to the existing ecology, site topography, and future climate scenarios.
